Rural Care and Share Food Shelf
The food shelf is open the third Saturday of every month from 9am to 11am at Peace Lutheran in Poplar and at Our Savior’s Lutheran in Iron River
Rural Care and Share Food Shelf is comprised of 13 area churches:
Trinity Lutheran, St Anthony Catholic, First Presbyterian – Lake Nebagamon
Peace Lutheran, Mission Covenant – Poplar
St Michael Catholic, Our Savior’s Lutheran, Grace Baptist – Iron River
Hope Lutheran – Oulu
Brule Presbyterian – Brule
Hawthorne Assembly of God – Hawthorne
Lakeside Baptist – Lakeside
St Paul UCC – Delta
The RC&S Food Shelf steering committee has at least one representative from each church. MCC reps are Barb High and Shelaine Puttonen. The food shelf is operated totally by volunteers from the local churches.
Who can use RC&S Food Shelf? Anyone who meets the financial guidelines established by State of Wisconsin Department of Health Services, and lives in the Maple and South Shore school district area.
Where does RC&S get the food? We purchase food from Northern Lakes Second Harvest and local grocery stores, Northwest Community Action Agency TEFAP, and community donations.
How does RC&S pay for food? We receive cash donations from individuals, churches, local businesses and community organizations; fund raisers, and federal grants.
When and where is the food shelf? We have a distribution site at Peace Lutheran in Poplar and at Our Savior’s Lutheran in Iron River. The food shelf is open the third Saturday of every month from 9am to 11am
